Havan is a Sanskrit word meaning "sacrifice by fire." It is a purification ritual performed by Hindus in which offerings are made to the gods through the medium of fire. These offerings can include ghee (clarified butter), grains, and herbs, among other things. The Havan Kund is an integral part of this ceremony, as the offerings are placed in it and then set ablaze.
